For the cover video project, I was the camera operator and editor. The things I learned were: the amount of time it takes to create a dance cover, and the pressure of the production team is under. When we decided to do a dance cover, I knew that learning the dance must take a significant amount of time, but I feel like I still underestimated it. I thought this because on the day of the shoot, I realized that the team was continuously and steadily improving with each take. I used many of the later takes when editing the video because the level of performance and the energy levels were higher. If we had little more time to nail the dance routine, I feel like the video would have been even better. Taking in the experience of having made a cover video, I can only imagine how much time and energy it would take to choreograph the dance, learn it and practice it to perfection. Another thing I learned is that the pressure that the production team under must be immense. Since I was the entire production team by myself, I quickly realized that if anything were to go wrong during the shoot, it would ultimately be my fault, and that I'll let the team down. Given that many of these K-pop artists have busy schedules, I imagine that the time allowed to film music videos must be very short. This means that everything on the shoot must go as well as it possibly can, and if it does not, it will most likely burden the artist and the production team. I also applaud at both my group and K-pop artists for maintaining high energy levels and performing their best for each shot. I know that we did dozens of takes of the dance and despite everyone being tired, they gave 100%. In a real music video setting, I know that the artists will do many more takes than we have done, and much more challenging ones too. It really made me realize how dedicated the artists are to give their best possible performance for their fans.
